The day after the auction, Lin Fan didn’t head back to the Fox Hall yet.
After all, there would be people watching over the Fox Hall during this time.
These were people that were sent by not just the six factions that bought the items he sold, but also many other factions. There would even be groups from other countries waiting and watching.
This was all because they wanted to find the source of these items.
They wanted to find the one that sold these items.
After all, if this person could sell these items once, then it was possible that they could sell these items again. At the same time, it was also possible that they would have more of these items that they had kept instead of selling them all.
As such, everyone was trying to find the person that had put these items up for auction.
Human greed was not something that could be underestimated.
That was why Lin Fan was not in a rush to head to the Fox Hall during this time.
In fact, Lin Fan didn’t actually trust the Fox Hall since they were a shop in the underground market. They had no integrity in the first place, that was why they were willing to cooperate with him to put on this auction.
The owner of the Fox Hall, Atticus had done all this just because he wanted to gain funds and influence. Atticus wanted to take over the family that was behind him and the Fox Hall that had sent him here.
So the best way to do that was to sell out Lin Fan.
Lin Fan had even planned on visiting in the middle of the night to get the compensation that he was owed.
But that was for a different time.
Currently, Lin Fan was just wandering around in the underground market.
Only it wasn’t as if he was just lollygagging around. Instead, he was moving around in the crowd to get information.
Sometimes the best way to get information was just to listen to the idle conversation between people. These people would hear all kinds of things and be compelled to gossip about it.
The information that Lin Fan was looking for was information about the six factions.
He wanted to see what kind of reaction they had after what happened last night.
However, what Lin Fan didn’t expect was that most of the rumours were about something completely different. It was about a person rather than the six factions.
“The Mist Lord.”
That was the rumour that spread the most among these people.
Only what was the Mist Lord?
“It’s said that he can create enough mist to cover up an entire city.”
“It’s said that his true form is mist itself, that’s why no one was able to find him.”
“He has to be a sage class mage or else he couldn’t have done something like this.”
Lin Fan didn’t know what to say when he heard these rumours.
After all, he knew that he was the one that these rumours were about.
For them to name this person Mist Lord, it was clear that it was related to the mist that he had created last night to help the groups from the six factions escape.
But it seemed that people had exaggerated how powerful that mist was with the way that they were describing him.
To call him a sage…
Lin Fan had an idea of how powerful a sage was on the magic continent. This was an expert that was on the same level as someone in the Transcendence Realm.
Even if he had become stronger, there was no way that he would be able to match up with someone in the Transcendence Realm.
Though the main reason that they were saying that he was a sage was because of the lack of awareness of power levels. For those normal people living their lives on the magic continent, they just didn’t have the chance to come into contact with those at the peak of their paths.
Many of them didn’t even have the chance to come in contact with those that were in the middle of the pyramid.
This magic continent did run on a feudal system, which meant that many of these people were of lower class. That was why it was impossible for them to meet those that had power and were in the noble class.
But the rumours that spread really made Lin Fan seem much more powerful than he really was.
There was a part of him that thought that this was a bad thing, but there was also a part of Lin Fan that thought that this was a good thing. After all, it would be a good cover if he ever needed to use this kind of cover in the future.
Other than rumours about the Mist Lord, there were other things that caught Lin Fan’s attention.
Though these things were also related to the Mist Lord.
“Ten thousand gold offered for any useful information related to the Mist Lord.”
The people in the street were also talking about this request that had shown up in the information brokers all around the underground market last night. These were requests that had been posted at every information broker in the underground market, but it seemed that there were different people that made this request.
After all, these information brokers all had different backers and they wouldn’t move unless their backers agreed.
So for all of these information brokers to release this task all at once, it went to show how united they were in trying to find this Mist Lord. It was clear just how many powerful people wanted to find the secret identity of the Mist Lord.
Of course, this was something that Lin Fan would never let anyone figure out.
He made sure that he had erased all traces of his involvement in the matter last night.
Ten thousand gold, it really wasn’t a small amount.
The average S Rank Material Item was only worth around five to seven thousand gold in the first place. Even if it showed up in an auction, being pushed up to ten thousand was usually the limit.
So for them to offer this much gold meant that they were treating him as a S Rank existence.
S Rank existences were powerful creatures like dragons and such, they weren’t things that could be easily matched.
Though Lin Fan knew that S Rank Monsters weren’t as strong as one thought they were.
They were only equal to those in the Qi Condensation Realm or the Golden Core Realm depending on how strong they were.
So what they were offering was actually around the level that Lin Fan was at.
However, the rumours did claim that the Mist Lord was a sage…
“Does this mean that they’re looking down on me?” Lin Fan said with a faint smile on his face.
Still, it wasn’t as if he would actually do anything about this since this was an identity that he couldn’t reveal. He just found it interesting that they had hit the nail on the head even though they had no information at all.
However, it also meant that Lin Fan had gotten the information that they wanted.
For these requests to appear in the information brokers at the same time, it meant that the six factions had returned without a problem. The six factions had to be the ones that had moved their powers to put these requests up with the information brokers.
It meant that there wasn’t a problem with the plan at all.
What would happen next is that they would turn the materials that they won in the auction into items that they could use. Once these materials were turned into items, then it was only a matter of time before they would be used in fights between the six factions.
When the time came, they would have no idea how these items broke.
Since he had confirmed that there wasn’t a problem with the plan, Lin Fan didn’t bother listening that closely any longer.
Or that was what he thought until…
“Did you hear the news? All the nobles have been recruiting more and more soldiers lately. It seems that they aren’t holding back either as they’ve offered high salaries for anyone that will work for them.”
Then in a lower voice that person said, “It seems that they don’t care about your background either. It seems that they’re recruiting both people from the light and dark for their armies. Do you think that we should go too?”
This was the part that Lin Fan found strange.
It was one thing if they recruited troops for the fight between themselves, but to recruit troops from the underground as well…
These were troops that one couldn’t use if they were to try and take over the country, so this didn’t seem like it was related to the power struggle.
These were the kind of troops that they would recruit to send somewhere they didn’t expect them to come back from.
The only place that Lin Fan could think of when it came to this was…the cultivation continent.
The Kalos Empire was the one that had been trying to invade the cultivation continent, which was why they had sent spies in the first place. Now they were also gathering troops as if they were about to invade…
Did something happen for them to change their plans like this?
Was it related to the weapons that they gave them which gave them confidence?
