I shook my head “No it’s nothing like that, I’m not that fragile. I felt it, the loss of thousands of lives all at once. It was like the Uchiha massacre all over again but much faster and so much worse.” I said with a frown.
“I see, you blame yourself for not stopping it then?” she asked softly.
“No, I know that there was no way I could have stopped it without prewarning from some source. The barrier didn’t hold long enough for me to act so the forces involved were strong enough that I may not have even been able to stop it if I did know. That doesn’t make the loss of all that life feel any better however. I’ll be fine with time but I’m going to be a bit quiet until then.” I said honestly.
“I understand. You’ve already helped tremendously by filling in the crater but can you help with the construction process as well?” she asked with a reluctant look. “I’d help myself but I have to attend to Gokage meeting in another two days and have to deal with the organization of the villages affairs until then.” she said tiredly.
“I won’t be able to use Wood release at large scale for a while with my lifeforce as depleted as it is but normal ninjutsu is still perfectly doable.” I said honestly.
She agreed that was fine as right now the wall of the village that stood as the focus and stabilizing points of the village needed to be redone as the attack shattered it. I left the tent and flickered over to the location that had most of the village stone masons arguing about how the wall should be done. I looked at the designs for the wall and within a few moments found a few flaws and corrected them.-
“Oi! The hell do you think you are doing!? Those plans are the only copy we have and if you ruin them there’ll be hell to pay!” One of the masons yelled as he saw me make the changes.
I pointed at the previously flawed parts of the design however “These spots would have become problematic in the future so I fixed them before they were beyond saving.” I said bluntly.
The guy looked at the spots I pointed out and the changes I made before grunting in acknowledgement.
“Alright you helped us out a lot this time so I’ll let the matter of you tampering with the plans alone but don’t make a habit of it.” He said sternly.
“What is the ideal material for the walls composition?” i asked with a nod.
“Well ideally something sturdy and hard like graphene or even a metal like steel but that would be too expensive to implement so we just use solid ash cement. ” the guy said thinking I was just curious.
I nodded and fully activated my eyes and drew upon the power of creation as I clasped my hands together and slammed my palms into the ground.
Immediately there was a loud rumbling as from the ground surrounding the entire village perimeter a several foot thick wall of solid dark carbon rose. Harder than a diamond and more structurally sturdy by a wide margin this new wall was as solid as literally possible without added seals. I stood up and looked over my work before nodding in satisfaction and turning to leave.
“WAIT!” the guy yelled hurriedly when he saw me about to leave.
I looked at him with a confused look that he ignored.
“You are Kenzo Mizuyama, the Hokages disciple right?” he asked and I nodded. “I just wanted to thank you for saving my family after the attack. I know you don’t know what I am talking about since you saved a lot of people but my family was amongst those saved. Some people blame you for not saving everyone but you did your best I’m sure so ignore them. You’re okay in my book!” he said with a thumbs up and a smile.
It was nice to hear but didn’t make me feel much better, I needed time for that.-
As said by my sensei she left two days later while construction was in full swing in the village. The shinobi who weren’t busy already helped around the village carrying materials and food as needed. I helped with what I could which was mostly digging out foundations and waiting for Yamato to make the houses street by street since his chakra and lifeforce were heavily limited. My own lifeforce was rapidly recovering but I still wasn’t touching it until I was fully restored or I could damage it permanently. All my research made it clear that while lifeforce was tenacious it was also fragile in some ways and repeated abuse was one of them.-
Still thanks to all my Kekkai genkai I was able to help considerably around the construction as I could made hard crystal glass for windows, ash cement for bricks and the roads and create whole areas of food storage with Ice and Zero release. My beasts were also helping out with reconstruction in their own ways. Kumo was especially helpful as he was able to knock down massive trees for lumber and carry massive amount of weight. Kiseki was coming in clutch by rapidly growing out food that we needed to keep everyone fed while we rebuilt.-
The few buildings that had survived the attack such as my house and a few others at the outer parts of Konoha were used as temporary shelter during this time for the children and elderly. I had made sure that no one accidentally went into my meditation chamber though as that was a death sentence. I myself stayed there which worked wonders for restoring my depleted lifeforce. The natural energy was dense enough that it actively drilled into my body and converted itself into raw energy that my body ate to restore my lifeforce.-
That whole darling of the world thing really showed itself here as it was as though the world itself was actively trying to heal me. I had been confronted over the past few days by those who blamed me for the attack since I was hiding my power but no matter what happened I didn’t fight back even if they threw things at me or tried to hit me. Grief did terrible things to even the nicest of people and I wasn’t going to blame them for trying to find someone they could abuse to relieve it.
