Chapter 1004 - 1004 1004 To Investigate_1

Chapter 1004: Chapter 1004: To Investigate_1 Chapter 1004: Chapter 1004: To Investigate_1 Doubts arose in his heart, but Yang Wenxiao said nothing on the surface and engaged in casual conversation with Yao Xian. After the banquet ended, he called Yang Hao aside and mentioned he wanted to give him some vegetables, asking him to visit Da’an Palace.

Upon hearing this, Yao Xian nearly went mad with frustration.

It was clear that both Yang Wenxiao and Yang Hao had fallen into Qiao Xiaomai’s trap, yet now Yang Wenxiao was giving Yang Hao vegetables!

Who would covet a bit of vegetables brought all the way from afar?

What to do?!

Yang Hao was destined to be the Emperor; he absolutely could not be ruined!

However, this matter involved Yang Wenxiao, the retired Emperor, and Yao Xian felt unable to voice her concerns. What was she to do?!

Yao Xian fretted like an ant on a hot pan, while Yang Wenxiao leisurely rode back to Daming Palace with Yang Hao on a sled.

Upon arriving at Daming Palace, he truly brought out the agricultural products from the manor and let Yang Hao pick at will, “Having been accustomed to Qiao Xiaomai’s cooking, I’m afraid the food from the Imperial Kitchen here may not suit your taste.”

At this, Yang Hao smiled lightly, “Indeed, eating those meals these days, I’ve felt as if something is missing.”

Not a single person except him cared for the two chickens and baskets of eggs he brought back. He therefore ate a steamed egg a day, taking his time, and although he didn’t find the other meals to his liking, he still ate what he should.

He was not a man driven by gluttony; being full was enough for him.

However, now that Yang Wenxiao had brought things that suited his taste, he was quite pleased at heart.

“Oh? Tell me, what do you usually eat?” Yang Wenxiao asked with a smile, “Is it because you’ve grown tired of exotic delicacies?”

“I’ve been eating the same food as last winter… I suppose it’s not because I’m tired of it, right?” Yang Hao responded, instinctively frowning. He thought about the huge difference in taste between him and his family.

“I think you’re just tired of it, take more of these.” Yang Wenxiao pointed at the produce he had brought back, almost giving all the vegetables and Tofu Noodles to Yang Hao, “Tired of exotic delicacies, it’s good to eat more homemade farm dishes to change the taste.”

“I can’t take all that you brought back,” Yang Hao demurred, waving his hands.

“These were prepared for you anyway; am I short of these few items? Take them all,” Yang Wenxiao insisted firmly.

Seeing this, Yang Hao had no choice but to accept.

After expressing his gratitude, he took a large pile of items and returned to the East Palace.

He was quite happy in his heart, but the joy diminished when he thought of the tastes of Yang Zheng and Feng Huihui. It was regrettable that the good things were not understood by his loved ones.

Once Yang Hao had left Da’an Palace, Yang Wenxiao immediately instructed Gao Lian, “Check if anyone new has joined the Imperial Kitchen recently and if there have been any changes in ingredients.”

Taste is a magical thing, and it’s not possible for everyone to be the same; he understood this.

But Qiao Xiaomai was no ordinary cook; her food carried a faint fragrance, much like the bowl of rice given by Liuli. Normally, one wouldn’t find this taste objectionable.

Moreover, everyone who had tried Qiao Xiaomai’s cooking had never been disappointed, even those few families who initially joined Yang Wang in complaining about the cleanliness of her Dried Sweet Potatoes were only concerned about Zhuang Lühe’s reputation and did not deny Qiao Xiaomai’s culinary skills.

Only Yao Xian obviously disliked Qiao Xiaomai’s cooking, elevating average-tasting food to astonishing levels.

And it seemed that both Emperor Yongan and the couple Yang Zheng and Feng Huihui shared her taste.

This was curious.

It had to be investigated.
