Chapter 859: 431, Korea
Seeing that David hadn’t found anything, Hu Xiang stopped inquiring and instead lit a cigarette for himself, leaning back in the seat to smoke.
Since the last time David came to ask questions, there hadn’t been any new developments from the task force for several days. Even the officers who had been surveilling Jack were withdrawn today.
It seemed that they no longer suspected Jack.
But Jack knew all too well that this was only temporary; sooner or later, the task force would refocus on him. He felt certain that behind the apparent members of the task force lurked a true criminal investigation expert!
However, none of this mattered to Jack. Right now, he had two matters before him. One was the task released by the system, and with less than twenty days left of the one-month deadline, time appeared to be ample. But this task spanned two countries, and involved numerous targets, the exact number unknown.
Thus, he decided to begin the live broadcast today.
The other matter was, after the last interaction with David, he felt David was more suited than Alice to be his assistant within the police. Yet, the time was not yet ripe, and he needed to observe further.
Thinking of this, Jack called out to the system in his mind and asked, “System, this task is international. Can you ensure that those in Korea can understand what I’m saying?”
“Yes.” The system answered as cold and indifferent as ever, its voice icy.
“Then for this task, with so many targets, will the live feed be split into many parts?” Jack inquired further.
The system seemed to ponder the solution, and after a moment of silence, replied in Jack’s mind, “This live broadcast will have two forms: designated target streaming or concentrated streaming.”
Hearing the system’s reply, Jack was still somewhat puzzled: “I understand concentrated streaming, which means using the King Scene Card to gather all targets in one place. But what is designated target streaming?”
“Designated target streaming involves numbering all targets and then streaming them consecutively.” At this point, the system suddenly asked, “Shall the Host issue the Death Sentence and commence the live broadcast now?”
“Issue the Death Sentence, but don’t start the live broadcast yet; I need to prepare a bit more.”
Just as Jack finished speaking, meanwhile, across various locations in the United States and within Korea, 46 people suddenly received a black card with lines of information, the first of which prominently displayed the words “Death Sentence”!
…
In the capital of Korea, within a luxurious villa.
“Chairman, this is a Death Sentence.”
A man in his thirties, wearing a tailcoat, looked at the black card in his hand and respectfully spoke to the middle-aged man sitting on the leather sofa.
The middle-aged man with gold-rimmed glasses and a square face glanced at the man and sternly reprimanded, “I can read! No need for you to tell me what’s written here!”
“Understood, Chairman.”
The man bowed slightly, his voice even more deferential: “The Death Sentence has become a hot topic recently in the United States. A person known as the Dark Law Enforcer specializes in broadcast judgments, targeting individuals who severely violate the law.”
“Dark Law Enforcer?”
Upon hearing this name, the middle-aged man’s face darkened immediately, and he asked through gritted teeth, “Isn’t that the one who killed my son Mark?”
“Yes, Chairman, it’s him,” the man replied.
“Good, good, good!”
The middle-aged man said “good” three times in quick succession, clearly enraged, his chest heaving and eyes filled with murderous intent: “I haven’t even gone to find him, and he’s already challenging me. Go! Call our people back, bring the guns, I want to see how capable he is to dare come after me!”
…
The same scene played out repeatedly in various places across the United States and Korea; everyone who received a Death Sentence awaited the Dark Law Enforcer’s arrival.
Meanwhile, Jack was sitting under an old tree in the courtyard of the police station, browsing the System Mall for useful items.
After all, this live broadcast was much more challenging than anything before.
“Midnight Bell Scene Card?”
Looking at the card emitting a dark aura before him, a hint of surprise flashed in Jack’s eyes.
He originally thought the System Mall would only sell some mechanism scene cards, at most some micro ability cards like the Death God’s Descent. But now it seemed the mall had items beyond his imagination, nothing the system couldn’t accomplish.
However, seeing the 30000 points marked under the scene card, Jack, who initially thought of redeeming one to try it out, immediately dismissed the idea.
This live broadcast marked the first time Jack, as the Dark Law Enforcer, would present himself before the entire world, so he wanted to make the spectacle grander for a stronger deterrent effect.
After rummaging through the System Mall, Jack finally redeemed a Point-to-Point Teleportation Card and a simplified horror cruise scene card for 9000 points.
This simplified horror cruise scene card didn’t have the body replication ability from the movie. It only isolated a small sea area, and no one would discover the cruise within it.
After completing the exchange, Jack summoned the system:
“Start the broadcast!”
“Start the broadcast!”
As Jack finished speaking, the live broadcast room opened, and the system routinely drew in fifty thousand viewers.
“Ahhhh!!! The judgement live room that hasn’t opened for days is finally live!”
